He is a novice spellcaster, so he often lacks the talent to make the most use of the powerful spells his AI creates.When more firepower is required, Laflu equips a combination gun that allows him to shoot at enemies at multiple ranges.

Background

Studies of the Ground, Head in the Clouds
Laflu was born and raised into a simple middle class life in Sharlayan, eventually enrolling in the Studium to study analytical alchemy. He wasn’t the best student as he’d often doze off in class and spend his nights reading faerie tales about ancient Nym. While browsing the Nymian archive in the Noumenon, he accidentally attuned to a Scholar Soul Crystal, summoning a memoryless faerie. Shocked by his irresponsibility, he stopped reading faerie tales and focused on his studies. He would go on to graduate with a thesis on the alchemical flow of minerals in the Northern Empty ocean.

Fantasies of Faeries and Frogs
Unfortunately, he was rejected when he tried to apply for archonship in alchemy. Discouraged by academia, Laflu chose to pursue a better career. He was inspired by the increased demand for engineers in the years leading up to the Final Days to start reading books on automata and machines.Laflu would spend months struggling to learn engineering by himself. After weeks of depression, he tried summoning his faerie to see if her healing powers might alleviate his despondence. Her spell lulled him into a calm sleep. That night, Laflu was visited by a pixie that conjured visions of dwarves and their Ironfrogs from the First.A Roboticist Realized
Inspired by this dream, he built his own cute frog-shaped automaton named the “Metaltoad”. Similar to the IronFrogs, the Metaltoad operates solely by pure logic, a design Laflu believes is a major enhancement to mammets and their emotion-driven cores. After several more years of improving his automatons, he would eventually build “ToadMind”, a self-learning artifical intelligence hosted by a network of Metaltoads.Laflu presented the ToadMind to the Forum, earning an archonship in machine intelligence. His current day job involves developing algorithms that sort and organize information in the Noumenon.New Horizons
Laflu’s distaste for academic politics and the isolationist attitudes of Sharlayan has led him to pursue greener pastures. He currently spends his free time exploring Eorzea with hopes to broaden his horizons and meet new people and cultures. His dream is to spread technology fairly across the world so that all people may benefit from it.

Implementation of aetherial neural networks for intelligent decision-making in computational machines

Traditional automatons have utilized singular aetherial cores to drive mechanical function and establish sentience. These cores, often used in mammets, are capable of unstructured decision-making at the cost of unpredictable decision modeling. With the advent of computational machines, structured decision-making can be performed by stochastic models called artificial neural networks. A new computational machine called Toadmind has been developed that overcomes the limitations of current machines. By using aetherial microcores as neural nodes, ToadMind demonstrates a breakthrough in strictly-defined decision models capable of structured and unstructured decision-making. Aetherial neural networks represent the next step in artificial intelligence as a true simulation of organic sentience.
